Here are some shots of a beautiful bird and it’s small ones, there is more in our PHOTO GALLERY under WILDLIFE, which I have to admit has not been on my priority list so far.
So if you have nice pictures of Animals you would like to share, get in touch.
I got these from Anne and Don, and the artist with the camera is Jennifer. Thanks to you all and happy paddling.

Here are some pictures from our Level 2 course on Cortes, of course we were out of film by the time we got to the action part, winds and currents we got for sure. But the trip went well, and the area is really special.
Both Cortes and Quadra (plus anything going north from there of course) offer pristine water, scenery where you paddle surrounded by a chain of mountains, wildlife and surprises every time you turn a corner, peeking into the next cove or passing a headland leading you into a new channel.
Of course weather and currents are a consideration, but so are they everywhere else right?!
There are of course a number of companies interested in taking you out if you are not prepared to go on your own, and plenty of B&Bs, campgrounds, and a motel in the area.
Even just driving you could get to little inter-tidal Lagoons, harvest some oysters, look at the currents coming in with tides and even swim as the water is warm (that would be Cortes, Quadra Island water is “fresh”….).
If you are going paddling, get in touch with the folks at Discovery Lodge (on Quadra), you can sleep and cook there, get some local knowledge about paddling destinations from the dock right on the water. And…. if that’s not enough, there is a little floating sauna on the dock for when you come back!
OK, here are the pics, time to get back on the water. If you want some more info about the area, get in touch!
Happy paddling.
